In the liver of the person over-eating corn oil, the linoleate is mostly being converted to cholesterol (~22%), palmitate and other FAs as well as being oxidised or stored directly, which will contribute to weight difference.Georgenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9174025374821038087.post-38904796632313007262014-06-12T13:00:29.621+01:002014-06-12T13:00:29.621+01:00When sedentary, fat-burning occurs at a rate of on...When sedentary, fat-burning occurs at a rate of only ~0.11g/min. If fatty acids were released in an uncontrolled fashion and not burned, there would be sky-high serum NEFAs. Serum NEFAs are generally higher on VLC than NC, but don't go sky-high. There's some cycling going on. In the absence of carbohydrate we'd expect the fat to be steadily released and burned.
Catch and release. Short-term deposit. If I remember my wooo-lessons, there is an insulin response to fat that might be just sufficient for this purpose.
Interesting bit in that overfeeding study about thermogenesis - heat, and sweating, because, too much heat.Georgenoreply@blogger.com
