Hello world. I'm back. The title is referring to our muscles. The following image is from Masters Athletes Show the Importance of Exercise on Aging Muscle..
I'm not going to start doing chronic exercise, but the above is a great incentive to continue with the walking.

Welcome back Nigel. Wow, that middle pic is pretty scary. But one ought to be able to maintain and/or increase muscle mass into one's 70s by doing high intensity/low volume exercise rather than triathlete training.
I agree. I think that high-intensity exercise is more effective than low-intensity exercise for building/retaining muscle mass, but just getting people to move more is essential.
People are told to move more in order to lose weight. I think that this usually results in failure, disappointment and subsequent discontinuation.
I just noticed how much smaller the bone size is, really scary. Bones are more like organs, not static rocklike things that I guess the average person imagines them to be. And of course bone frailty is linked to muscle frailty (ie, hormetic stress), whereas the prevailing wisdom seems to be eat more calcium supplements or something.
Yeah I agree, move more, but not because you'll burn a few more calories.
Great to see you back. What HAVE you been doing ? ( Or shouldn't one inquire too closely.....? :) )
Hi chmeee,
Life went tits-up and I lost the motivation to blog. Things have settled down, so I'm back.
Good to have you back.
And halo to you, too!
