Global Wealth Inequality - What you never knew you never knew.

Hat-tip to Johann Hari for the following video.

Wow, just wow.

No wow factor for me - I've lived in Asia and my beloved grew up in a Philippines jungle. I fully realize and appreciate how lucky I am.

An interesting area of research is why some countries can quickly develop while others don't. The modern history of Singapore is very instructive.

I knew that there was a gap between the rich and the poor, but I didn't realise just how big a gap it was.

Ditto for the similar video about America, where the highest earner gets $300,000,000 pa.

The rich always seem to complain they are paying more than their fair share of taxes. Maybe the reason they pay more taxes is because relatively speaking, no one else has any money.

The "middle classes" probably pay more than their fair share of tax, because the "very rich" have the resources to avoid paying their fair share.

^ This.

It's a very convenient game board where a lot of the costs are being forwarded to the struggling middle that is almost indistinguishable from the poor and the absolute bottom, but yet they're told to direct their ire for shouldering this burden towards the bottom end of the equation.

This is why it is so important for all Americans to have at least 3 guns each and plenty of ammo. If the poor bastards ever figure this out, we are fucked!

+1. And Kade, it's even worse than that when loud chunks of the very same misnamed 'middle' want to believe that the rich 'deserve it' because they are the 'wealth producers', the 'creators', etc. As if today's corporate-state protectionist rackets are anything remotely related to the inventors and innovators of two hundred years ago (and even they quickly turned into the minority of industrialists).

I'd like to apologise for the delay in moderation. I didn't receive any notifications on either my BlackBerry or my Galaxy :-/

Well if you're looking at a bar of galaxy chocolate, I don't accept your apology.... Best wishes. You're a better blogger than a singer!

If it had been an Apple, would I have been O.K? ;-D

I've sussed-out how to sync applications on the Galaxy, so I now receive notifications within 5 minutes.

Where the hell have you been, Bill? When did you last hear my singing?

Have you ever considered about including a little bit more than just your articles?

I mean, what you say is important and everything.
However think of if you added some great images or video clips to give your posts more, "pop"!
Your content is excellent but with images and video clips, this blog could definitely be one of the greatest in its niche.
Amazing blog!
